They Already Have the Bills Written. They Just Need the Votes.

The DFL isn't waiting to see what voters want. The bills are drafted, the committees are scheduled, and all they need is one more seat. District 56A is that seat. Don't give it to them.

They Already Have the Bills Written. They Just Need the Votes.

Let me tell you something that doesn't get said enough in campaign season: the other side isn't waiting for a mandate. They aren't waiting to see how the election goes before they decide what to do. The bills are already written. The room is already booked. The votes are already counted โ€” in their heads โ€” assuming they win.

All they need is one more seat.

District 56A is that seat.

What Happens the Morning After

When the DFL swept the trifecta in 2022 โ€” the House, the Senate, and the Governor's office โ€” they didn't waste a single day. Within weeks, bills that had been sitting in committee for years suddenly had hearings. Within months, they were law.

They knew exactly what they wanted to do. They had been writing the bills for years. They just needed the votes.

Here is what they passed โ€” and what they are ready to pass again if they get the majority back:

HF 14 / SF 2: The Transgender Sports Bill

This one was heard in the House Education Policy Committee. It passed out of committee on a straight party-line vote. Every DFL member voted yes. Every Republican voted no.

HF 14 โ€” and its Senate companion SF 2 โ€” mandated that biological males who identify as female must be allowed to compete in girls' sports at every level of K-12 athletics in Minnesota. No exceptions. No opt-outs for schools. No parental recourse.

The bill passed the full House 70โ€“61. It passed the Senate 34โ€“33. Governor Walz signed it.

Girls in District 56A who work for years to earn a spot on a varsity roster now compete against biological males. That is not a hypothetical. That is Minnesota law โ€” passed in Room 10 of the State Office Building, on a party-line vote, by legislators who had the bill ready to go the moment they had the majority.

They will do it again. The bill is already written.

HF 3: Taxpayer-Funded Meals With No Income Verification

HF 3 created universal free school meals for every student in Minnesota โ€” regardless of family income. No means testing. No verification. Every child, every meal, paid for by taxpayers.

The cost: $400 million over the first biennium, according to the Minnesota Department of Education's own fiscal note.

I am not against feeding hungry kids. Nobody is. But this bill does not target hungry kids. It gives free meals to families earning $200,000 a year. It removes every incentive to verify need. And it was passed not because it was the most efficient way to help children โ€” but because it was the most expensive way, and the DFL needed a headline.

The bill is already written. They just need the votes.

HF 5: Driver's Licenses for Undocumented Immigrants

HF 5 โ€” the so-called "Driver's Licenses for All" bill โ€” passed the House 70โ€“62 and the Senate 34โ€“33. Governor Walz signed it into law.

Minnesota now issues standard driver's licenses to individuals who cannot prove legal presence in the United States. Those licenses are accepted as valid ID at polling places.

I will let you sit with that.

The bill was ready. The votes were there. They ran it through the moment they had the majority.

Feeding Our Future: $250 Million. Gone.

Before we talk about what the DFL wants to spend next, let's talk about what happened to the last pile of money they handed out with no oversight.

Feeding Our Future was a Minnesota nonprofit that administered federal pandemic food aid. Between 2020 and 2022, it distributed $250 million in federal funds โ€” and federal prosecutors say the vast majority of it was stolen.

This is the largest fraud case in Minnesota history.

Forty-seven people have been charged. The money went to shell companies, luxury cars, real estate in Kenya, and wire transfers overseas. The fraud was reported to the Minnesota Department of Education as early as 2021. The department did nothing. The DFL-controlled legislature did nothing. The money kept flowing.

$250 million. Federal taxpayer money. Stolen. In Minnesota. On the DFL's watch.

And their response? More programs. More spending. More money out the door with less oversight than before.

What They Have Ready for Next Session

If the DFL wins back the House majority in November, here is what is already drafted and waiting:

  • Expanded taxpayer funding for abortion through all nine months, with no gestational limits and no parental notification for minors
  • Mandatory "comprehensive" sex education starting in kindergarten, with curriculum written by the state โ€” not local school boards
  • Elimination of the requirement that teachers be licensed in the subject they teach
  • Further restrictions on school choice and charter school funding
  • New taxes on small businesses to fund expanded paid leave mandates

These are not rumors. These are bills that have been introduced, heard in committee, and held โ€” waiting for a majority to pass them.

They have the bills written. They just need the votes.

District 56A Is the Vote They Need

I am running for the Minnesota House in District 56A because I believe the people of Apple Valley, Rosemount, and Farmington deserve a representative who will stand in that room and vote no.

No to boys in girls' sports. No to $400 million in untargeted spending. No to handing out IDs with no verification. No to the next Feeding Our Future.

The DFL is not waiting. They are organized, they are funded, and they have the bills ready to go.

So am I.
